Hi, I’m Ahmad, a fourth-year student at the University of Victoria finishing a combined degree in Computer Science and Health Information Science. This blog will be a space for me to share my reflections for this course, along with anything else related to learning and building a Personal Learning Network (PLN).

I’m originally from the White Rock area and now live in Victoria. I’m drawn to the space where technology and healthcare overlap, which is a big part of why I chose this program.

Outside of school, I work as an Ophthalmic Technician at Victoria Eyecare, where I use EMR systems daily and work with a high volume of patients. I also completed a business analysis internship at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, which gave me a broader look at how health systems operate outside of a Canadian context.

When I’m not working or studying, I stay involved with my university’s Muslim Students Association and I’m a big football fan. I got to attend several matches during the FIFA World Cup this summer in Vancouver, cheering on Colombia through a tense penalty shootout loss.
